LG Viewty Smart (LG GC900) Is Hottest Cell Phone to Date

The LG Viewty Smart (AKA the LG GC900) is smarter than most cell phones, and comes with multimedia specifications that match most smartphones.

The brand new LG Viewty Smart (AKA the LG GC900) will hit store shelves in Europe in May, featuring a WVGA touchscreen with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels, LG's new S-Class User Interface (see it in action here), and an 8-megapixel CMOS sensor with sensitivity up to ISO 1600.

The phone also sports European HSDPA support (7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, A-GPS based geotagging, 1.5 GB internal memory (!) as well as an microSD memory slot supporting up to 32GB cards. The LG Viewty Smart succeeds the original LG Viewty, which according to LG sold over 6.5 million units.

The LG Viewty Smart (see gallery at the bottom) will offer a new Intelligent Shot Mode, courtesy of an improved image processor which analyzes the subject, background and lighting conditions and compares the data against seven pre-programmed scenarios to take better pictures. In a Canon point-and-shoot camera, you'll find an image processor that compares data against tens of thousands of optimal images, but we guess that's a key reason why camera phones are still far behind such cameras in most cases.

The LG Viewty Smart is also offering a maximum ISO setting of 1600, LED flash, Multi-Face Detection, as well as shooting modes such as Touch Shot, Art Shot, Beauty Shot, Panorama Shot and Continuous Shot. Moreover, the LG Viewty Smart boasts VGA recording capability.

The LG Viewty includes the new 3D S-Class UI which debuted on LG's Arena earlier this year. LG has tailored S-Class around the LG Viewty Smart's camera features with an on-screen dial for instantly switching shot modes and a thumbnail viewer that shows recently taken photos without having to switch to the photo gallery.

LG has also included an easier way to zoom in and out: Move your finger in a clockwise circle on the touchscreen to zoom in, as if turning the zoom ring on an SLR camera. Zoom out by moving the finger in the opposite direction. Zooming in and out is also possible with multi-touch pinching and stretching.

Despite all its features, the LG Viewty Smart measures only 12.4mm deep, making it the thinnest 8-megapixel camera phone at the time of writing. Nokia N97 vs. LG Viewty Smart: Side By Side Comparison

The Nokia N97 has been confirmed for a June release, but just today LG has announced their flagship handset for the Summer, the Viewty Smart.

Boasting an 8 megapixel camera, amazing video recording and a 3" touchscreen, the Viewty Smart certainly has the credentials to be a genuine contender. But which is better?

New pictures of the LG enV3 and LG enV Touch

With the new Verizon Rebate Form listing the LG enV3, everyone is hoping that it will be out soon. We've seen a few images of the Slate Blue enV3 in the past, but now we have a picture of the Maroon version. There are also two images showing the inside of the LG enV3 and LG enV Touch and what their internal Main Menu will look like.

The LG enV3 will feature a 3MP camera with LED flash, QWERTY keyboard, 2.5mm headset jack, larger external display, QVGA internal display, stereo speakers, Bluetooth and microSD support.

The LG enV Touch will have two WVGA displays, with the external one being touch-sensitive, 3MP autofocus camera with LED flash and Schneider Kreuznach lens, QWERTY keyboard, 3.5mm headset jack, stereo speakers, Bluetooth, and microSD support. VCast Mobile TV (MediaFLO) is no longer included.

LG comes up with its KT770 Wi-Fi phone

LG is expected to announce a new smartphone with Wi-Fi connectivity under the KT-series. Remember, the KT-series comprises Symbian S60 based devices, which would ideally mean that the KT770 should be a Symbian S60 3rd edition device. We expect this one to be announced at the MWC in Barcelona next month.

Update: We have stumbled upon some more information about the KT770. The device will indeed run on Symbian S60 3rd edition FP2 platform and will have a QVGA display. It will also have a physical QWERTY keyboard, though we aren't sure at the moment whether it will have the 'Communicator-isque' form-factor like the KT610 or not.

3G Video calls on the latest LG watch phone

LG had been showcasing a prototype phone that could be worn on a wrist throughout 2008 and at CES 2009, the Korean giant has officially announced the device. The watch phone comes with a touchscreen, HSDPA connectivity and allows users to make video calls. And the best thing, 'this watch phone will actually be available for purchase,' says the press release!

While we are no fans of watch phones (not yet), the key takeaway from this device will be the miniaturisation of components. The manufacturer has managed to cram the basic voice telephony module but also added HSDPA, a touchscreen, stereo Bluetooth and a built-in speaker. LG presents its all new KS20 Windows Mobile smart phone

LG’s site is now showing a phone which goes by the model KS20, this is a Windows Mobile Professional device with a QVGA screen, HSDPA, 2 Mega Pixel camera, WiFi b and g, push email and runs the Windows Mobile 6 OS, no mention of 6.1 which seems strange for a new device. Dimensions are 99.8mm x 58mm x 12.8mm weighing in at 92.5g. A few pictures after the break.

LG Viewty now comes as a Pure White Phone

Here is the latest version of the famous LG Viewty. The LG Viewty White Phone (LG-SH210 / KH2100) offers a 5MP shooter that can capture video at up to 120 fps. This camera phone also adopts manual focus option, an image stabilizer and an ISO up to 800 for indoor or night shooting. Other features include a 3-inch touchscreen and Mobile XD engine, a jog wheel on the back. Users are also able to edit photos directly on the phone’s screen using the attached stylus. Source...

LG launched it latest KP500 mid-level full touchscreen phone

I already speculated that LG has a new interesting strategy to increase it’s mobile marketshare.

While other handset makers are focused on cramming the latest bells and whistles into it’s priciest flagships and keep cheaper models a bit neglected, LG takes a different route.
Of course, they are still among the first to produce high end, expensive and feature rich phones. But then they take some key feature that makes an expensive device popular and put it on a simpler, cheaper mid market handset.

This was the case with LG KC550 - really cheap 5 megapixel cameraphone, LG KC780 seems to follow this trend for 8 megapixel cameraphones.

And now it’s a cheap full touchscreen phone - LG KP500, pre-announced today.

As usual with it’s pre-announcements, LG is pretty scarce on details about the new phone. The LG KP500 specs that we can glean from official PR include:

Quad band GSM connectivity
3″ touchscreen display
3 megapixel camera
Black, Vandyke brown, Anodizing silver, and Elegant gold color schemes
Built-in motion sensor
On screen QWERTY keyboard
Stylus
And that’s about it.

LG also talks about serious touch responsiveness and UI refinements, slime profile, light weight of the KP500, motion sensor games similar to those we reviewed in LG Secret KF750, and, of course, the low price. But nothing more concrete here.

I guess we’ll have to wait for details until the end of October when LG KP500 will be officially launched in Europe.

LG KC910 Renoir a.k.a. Viewty II live pics

The time of the 8 megapixel camera phone has arrived. And one of the first handsets to become one such photo-snapping monster is the LG KC910, also known as the LG Renoir.
The LG KC910 was officially announced barely a month ago, with specs that would put most of today’s latest and greatest smartphones to shame. Its not supposed to be a super-computer of sorts, but it does look like it will deliver as far as multimedia is concerned. Its main selling point, of course, is its 8 megapixel camera. But it also has other goodies hidden under the hood.These LG KC910 live pics show us a little bit of the phone’s user interface, and a first look at its 8 megapixel camera. There’s a Xenon flash to accompany its 8-meg snapper so photos ought to come out looking superb.
Up front, there are at least two apertures near the top of the LG KC910, which could be alloted for the video call camera and ambient light sensor. At the bottom there’s clearly three hardware buttons, a home button flagged by green and red call keys on the side.
Alas, while a picture paints a thousand words, nothing would beat being able to put our grubby hands on this handset to be able to test just how good it really is. But for now, feast your eyes on the rest of these live pics. Source...

LG released KC780 another 8 Megapixel camera phone

Watch out there Nokia, it looks like LG has its sights set on that high-end camera phone crown. While Nokia’s upcoming N96 is still stuck in 2007 with a 5 megapixel camera, companies like LG and Samsung are already turning up the heat. The mother load has still got to be the sexy KC910 but feast your eyes on what will be LG’s second 8 megapixel shooter, the KC780. Little is known about this peculiar looking two-tone slider but it was just dug out of an FCC document so we should be learning plenty more soon enough. Here are a few specs from the FCC files:
Quadband GSM, GPRS/EDGE connectivity
8 megapixel camera with autofocus, red eye reduction, face recognition and 30fps video recording
140 MB of internal memory
microSD memory card slot
Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0

Fresh LG KC910 Hands-on photos

The LG-KC910 is the perfect successor to the multi-million selling camera phone, LG Viewty. Like its predecessor, which debuted as the slimmest 5 megapixel phone, the LG-KC910 will be the slimmest 8 megapixel handset on the market at just 13.95 mm when released. This phone combines the latest multimedia features and an intuitive user interface evolved far beyond what Viewty offered. With this phone LG has created a multi-sensorial experience like no other, providing enhanced viewing enjoyment, superior sound and better use of touch.











The LG-KC910 leads the industry with its 8 megapixel camera, which is being developed to include Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, a xenon flash and ISO sensitivity up to 1600. Further strengthening the phone’s camera features are image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection. An embedded GPS receiver gives the LG-KC910 the ability to geo-tag photos for later plotting on an interactive map. A variety of creative shot modes, so far only found on standalone digital cameras, will be included.

A quick review of LG Secret

About a month ago I was sent an LG Secret to review. After a lot of playing around with numerous features I am now ready to let you know what I think.
The LG Secret (named the KF750) is a very sleek looking phone. By looking at the box you can certainly see it has class even before you get to use the thing. When looking at the actual phone you can tell it is built well. The screen has a tempered glass cover making it very strong and nice to use. After spending time being dropped (oops) and left in my pocket with keys you can see that it resists scratches very well. The battery cover on the back is made of Carbon Fibre adding yet another nice touch of style to the look of the phone. The LG Secret is a slider phone and when sliding the front of the device open you are presented with a numeric keypad which again, is extremely sleek looking. The whole phone just looks and feels great.
LG Secret Technical Features

The LG Secret has a bunch of cool things built in one of which is an accelerometer allowing a unique way to play the built in games. Take darts for example. All you do here is launch the phone forwards and if you get the speed and angle right you can hit a triple 20.
Below the screen you will find 4 touch sensitive direction keys which I must admit, took a few days to get used to. After getting to grips with those buttons they are actually very easy to use and provide feedback in the way of a vibration each time you slide a finger over them. This allows for you to use the intuitive interface that is built in to the phone.
On the back of the phone you will notice a 5 megapixel camera which actually takes some very nice photos given the size of the small lens it uses. A flash is also included which I found to sometimes be a little overpowering on pictures although you do have the ability to switch the flash off if needed. Also LG’s standard 120 frames per second for capturing slow motion video is included, and great fun to use I might add!
On the music side of things the usual MP3, WMA and other file formats can be used. The phone is capable of storing 100MB in the internal memory. Capacity of the phone can be increased by using a Micro SD card. Up to 4GB of memory is supported in the Micro SD slot.
LG Secret Conclusion

I have to admit that I am very impressed with the LG Secret and having used it for a few weeks now there isn’t much I can fault it with. The touch sensitive buttons sometimes seem to be a little sensitive and catch you off guard, but normally this is just fine.
If you are looking for a well built, well designed and fully feature packed phone that will last the length of the newer 18 or 24 month contract lengths then I think you will be pleased with this one. Source...

LG Lotus High Quality Hands-On photos

The first thing that stands out about Sprint's exclusive LG Lotus is its shape. Few, if any, flip phones possess a square shape and a full QWERTY keyboard in a true clamshell design. The hardware was inspired by makeup accessories every woman on the planet carries around, but despite its target audience, the Lotus is nice hardware for anyone who makes text messages their priority.

The keyboard especially is a joy to use. The keys are bubbly, well defined, and give a distinctive click when you hit the key. The screen is bright, sharp, and appears to have a respectable pixel density. The phone UI was too early in development to get a strong idea of what to expect, but Frog collaborated with Sprint in the design, which was easy on the eyes.

Sprint revealed LG LX600 Lotus

LG and Sprint have unveiled the LG LX600 Lotus, which has a rather unique shape. The phone is also a result of a partnership with fashion designer Christian Siriano, who first became famous by winning season IV of the reality show “Project Runway”. With the Lotus’ emphasis on fashion design, it’s no surprise to see that it will come in interesting colors such as textured purple or satin black, and looks aimed firmly at ladies. The phone will feature a new One Click home screen, which provides easy access to common functions such as messaging, navigation, Sprint TV and Sprint Music Store. The phone will sport a QWERTY keypad inside for text input, and will also have Bluetooth 2.0 and a 2 megapixel camera. LG Viewty 8MP phone gets official announcement

LG have announced the new LG-KC910, an update to the successful LG Viewty that features an 8 megapixel camera. It's not the first 8 megapixel camera to be announced, but the new LG comes with some stunning specs that in many ways blows the competition out of the water.

LG-KC910 overview
As you can see, the LG-KC910 (or LG Viewty II, as somepeople are calling it) is a touchscreen candybar phone featuring a user interface not dissimilar to that of the latest smartphones. Having a big analogue clock in the middle of a touchscreen seems de rigeur, these days, and the LG-KC910 is no different. Keeping up with the Samsungs, you could say!
More impressive, though, is the list of features. Just check this lot out:

The LG-KC910 is, quite clearly, LG's new flagship handset, and looks set to take on the Samsung Omnia and Nokia N96 head to head. Whether it'll succeed or not will be dependent largely on how well these features are implemented, as LG are renowned for making phones with a superb feature-set, but with a poor user interface, making the features almost impossible to use.
We'll only know once we get our grubby hands on one, but fortunately we won't have to wait too long - the LG-KC910 Viewty II release date is set for October 2008, so just over a month until we find out. Source...

Verizon LG VX9600 spotted at FCC

LG’s VX9600, which will most likely end up with Verizon has passed through the FCC’s tests. While there hasn’t been any release information just yet, the phone will reportedly have a 3-inch 480x240 touch screen, Bluetooth, 3D graphic user interface, CDMA/EVDO 800MHz and 1900MHz network support. PRADA II Technical specifications

We just got a heads up from one of our trusty sources, and they’ve come through with full PRADA II specs for us! In case you don’t remember, the new PRADA II handset will feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard as pictured above. Here’s a rundown on the specs we got:

LG gives a red update to Keybo

Someone at Telus probably realized that the LG KEYBO’s QWERTY keyboard was a great tool for messaging, and that girls didn’t always like black. In light of that realization, the Canadian CDMA carrier has decided to launch a new color for the KEYBO, namely pomegranate, which looks aimed at the ladies. The specs and price of the pomegranate colored model are the same as the standard black one, with the usual QVGA screen, Bluetooth, music player, GPS, microSD card slot, and will be going for CA$49.99 on a 3-year contract.
