Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition

Did you think that Nokia’s 5800 deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as other shows, aside from The Dark Knight? Well, Nokia has just revealed that it will be releasing a special Star Trek edition of the device. Even better news is that the device will be available for free on contract with Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2. The Star Trek version will feature animated screen savers, wallpapers, eight exclusive Star Trek ringtones, and is completed by a phazer application. This Star Trek edition of the Nokia 5800 will certainly be the phone to bring to the next Star Trek convention.

Latest Samsung eco friendly phone

Samsung has announced its solar powered full touchscreen phone, Blue Earth, which has been developed with the aim of ensuring a sustainable environment. In keeping with Samsung’s commitment towards making eco-friendly devices, the solar powered phone has been designed from recycled plastic and has a solar panel fit on the back to charge the phone. The phone supports a special ‘eco mode’ that adjusts and sets the screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth to lowest energy consumption mode. The phone supports a pedometer application called ‘eco walk’ that counts the numbers of steps taken by the user and calculates as to how much CO2 emissions have been reduced by walking and also telling the number of trees saved by the user’s decision to walk rather than use any automobile.

Nokia Royal phone comes with 1160 diamonds and 8 platinum screws

Those of you in need of a special Nokia Carbon Arte should be happy to find out that a so-called Nokia Royal will soon be launched.

The Royal resembles the Carbon Arte, but brings more luxury to the table. It’s not covered in carbon, but in solid platinum fixed with 8 handmade platinum screws.

On the sides, Nokia Royal host around 1160 tiny diamonds that totalize about 8.2 carats. And to make it all even more luxurious, the handset comes in a handmade box built from granite and leather.

If you ask me, the phone doesn’t look that good. But hey, it’s not the first and certainly not the last luxury device that’s not as beautiful as its makers want us to believe it is.

The Royal is crafted in the UK by Goldstriker’s Stuart and Katherine Hughes. Only 50 units of it will be created. And, although its price is not known yet, it will surely be an extremely high one.

The new luxury Nokia is set to be launched on January 31, at the Colette boutique in Paris. Interested customers will be able to buy it directly from there, as well as online, via Stuart and Katherine Hughes’ website (a weird sound plays after you access it, by the way). Source...d

First look : Motorola ZN300 pics & specs, Motorola QA1 UI

Yesterday we told you about 4 new Motorola phones nearing the release date - Motorola QA4, ZN300,VE465 and VE66 Luxury Edition.
Unfortunately very limited information about the new handsets was available. We weren’t even able to bring you the images of the darn things.
Well, today we might do a little better, since we’ve got some more info about the upcoming Motorola Zine ZN300 music slider.

As you can see from the picture it looks like an incremental upgrade to a low end Motorola Zine ZN200 handset released last year. And the few specs that we know about confirm this.
The new Motorola ZN300 will come equipped with 3 megapixel camera, QVGA display and Opera Mini mobile browser.
Well, that’s about all we know about ZN300. But we also got confirmation about another Motorola handset in their QA line.Source...

Video : Samsung Showcased its world's first Projector phone W7900

Samsung Show W7900, one of the world’s first projector phones that was actually build and not just sketched as a concept, has recently been caught on video by PopSci.
Also, some of the handset’s features were unveiled, so we can make a pretty solid idea about what it’s capable of.
One of the main attractions of Samsung Show is, of course, the built-in DLP projector. Manufactured by Texas Instruments, the projector is capable of rendering 480 x 320 pixels images with up to 50 inches in diagonal.

The rest of the specs include:
A 3.2 inch OLED touchscreen display with 240 x 400-pixels
Tri-band GSM connectivity and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps connectivity
5 MP camera
VGA front-facing camera for video calls
4.4 x 2.2 x 0.7 inches

3G Video calls on the latest LG watch phone

LG had been showcasing a prototype phone that could be worn on a wrist throughout 2008 and at CES 2009, the Korean giant has officially announced the device. The watch phone comes with a touchscreen, HSDPA connectivity and allows users to make video calls. And the best thing, 'this watch phone will actually be available for purchase,' says the press release!

While we are no fans of watch phones (not yet), the key takeaway from this device will be the miniaturisation of components. The manufacturer has managed to cram the basic voice telephony module but also added HSDPA, a touchscreen, stereo Bluetooth and a built-in speaker. We haven't seen the phone yet, but we hope that it shows time too! Source...

Sprint revealed LG LX600 Lotus

LG and Sprint have unveiled the LG LX600 Lotus, which has a rather unique shape. The phone is also a result of a partnership with fashion designer Christian Siriano, who first became famous by winning season IV of the reality show “Project Runway”. Motorola Z12 concept phone

Now we know many mobile phone users, especially those who love Motorola will love the stunning Motorola Z12 concept phone; the question is “Is this a concept or indeed a real handset coming soon?

Some of the main features on the Motorola Z12 Concept Phone include a 2.8-inch display that boasts of 16M colour VGA resolution, 5MP camera and touch-sensitive keypad.

Motorola announced MOTOJEWEL or a Diamond Phone?

While a lot of people sure don’t like the HTC Touch Diamond’s funnily designed backplate, it looks like the folks over at Motorola do, or think other people do anyways. The reason we say so is because Motorola has just unveiled its new MOTOJEWEL clamshell handset in the UK, which looks aimed at the fairer sex, complete with its own mini handbag, which can keep a few small items along with the phone itself. The MOTOJEWEL seems to share a lot of similarities with the U9 handset, with specs such as a 2 megapixel camera, music player, Bluetooth stereo support and hidden external display. The phone will have a “midnight quartz” color scheme, along with its purple keypad. The MOTOJEWEL will only be available for a limited time, and should start retailing in November on UK’s Carphone Warehouse retail chain. Source...

World’s smallest phone title goes to Xun Chi 138

You’d think that the world’s smallest phone would limit you to just making calls and short messages? Then you probably haven’t met the Xun Chi 138 yet.
The Xun Chi 138 is the world’s smallest phone, measuring only 2.64-inches in length — even shorter than the screen alone of a few certain smartphones!

Don’t let its diminutive size fool you, though. It packs a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, and touchscreen with handwriting recognition on that stubby body.
Being a dual band GSM phone should make it work in most parts of Europe, Australia and Asia. No word on local pricing for this one but it looks like it’s only available in China anyway. Source...

LG K910 the next version of LG Viewty

This one caught the lot of mobile enthusiasts, including us here at Unwired View, by surprise. Though we first reported about the possibility of LG rolling out a certain “K910″ with an 8MP camera a few months back, we never really thought LG would push through.

Well, apparently, they did. And now LG has just officially announced the LG K910, which is to be the LG Viewty’s 8 megapixel successor. But aside from its gargantuan-megapixel camera module, what else does the K910 really have to offer?
The 8 megapixel camera on the LG K910 won’t go to waste with its built-in Xenon flash, Schneider-Kreuznach optics, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection technology. That’s already a lot of features right there, but there’s still much we haven’t discussed yet.

It can play DivX and Xvid movies out of the box on its 3-inch WQVGA full touchscreen LCD, as well as deliver incredible sound with the help of Dolby Mobile.

Finally, with the LG KC910, users should be able to enjoy up to 7.2Mbps downloads with HSDPA connectivity, and easily find their way to wherever they’re going with its A-GPS enabled navigation feature.

The LG KC910 will be available starting on October, and LG will be providing more details regarding the handset and official release soon. Source...
