LG Viewty 8MP phone gets official announcement

LG have announced the new LG-KC910, an update to the successful LG Viewty that features an 8 megapixel camera. It's not the first 8 megapixel camera to be announced, but the new LG comes with some stunning specs that in many ways blows the competition out of the water.
More details of the LG-KC910 after the jump.

LG-KC910 overview
As you can see, the LG-KC910 (or LG Viewty II, as somepeople are calling it) is a touchscreen candybar phone featuring a user interface not dissimilar to that of the latest smartphones. Having a big analogue clock in the middle of a touchscreen seems de rigeur, these days, and the LG-KC910 is no different. Keeping up with the Samsungs, you could say!
More impressive, though, is the list of features. Just check this lot out:
  • 8 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics
  • Auto-focus and manual focus
  • Xenon Flash
  • Adjustable ISO sensitivity up to 1600
  • Image Stabilization
  • Face tracking
  • Smile detection
  • Blink detection (yes, seriously!)
  • aGPS
  • Dolby Mobile
  • DivX and Xvid movie playback
  • 3" WQVGA touschcreen
  • Wi-Fi
  • 7.2Mbps HSDPA
  • Video recording up to 120fps for slow-mo playback
Phew! That's one seriously long list of features. In fact, other than the ability to play the trumpet, I don't think there's anything they've actually missed out.
The LG-KC910 is, quite clearly, LG's new flagship handset, and looks set to take on the Samsung Omnia and Nokia N96 head to head. Whether it'll succeed or not will be dependent largely on how well these features are implemented, as LG are renowned for making phones with a superb feature-set, but with a poor user interface, making the features almost impossible to use.
We'll only know once we get our grubby hands on one, but fortunately we won't have to wait too long - the LG-KC910 Viewty II release date is set for October 2008, so just over a month until we find out. Source...

T-Mobile releases Nokia Xpress Music 5610

This one hasn’t exactly been a secret, but for anyone that’s been looking to grab one of these sliders today is your day. The Nokia Xpress Music 5610 is now available from all of T-Mobile’s physical and online retail channels. The handset sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, dedicated music player rocker key, included 2GB memory card, and shiny aluminum side panels. It’s certainly not the most advanced handset on the market, but for $99 this represents one of the better values in T-Mobile’s current lineup. Although the handset ships with a 3.5 mm headphone adapter, the actual jack on the handset is Nokia’s proprietary pop-port a 2.5 mm connector. Not surprising for a phone at this price point, but still not such a good thing for such a music-focused handset. If that’s not a deal breaker for you, however, head on down to your local T-Mobile store and swoop up one of these bad boys. Source...

Sony Ericsson W760a Making its Way to AT&T

It looks as though AT&T customers will likely have a new Walkman handset coming their way shortly. While nothing has been officially announced by AT&T or Sony Ericsson, the first live image of an AT&T-branded W760a is now making the rounds. The colorful Walkman handset made its way through the FCC approval process and emerged a few weeks ago, though its destination was unknown. The new image pictured above however, clearly shows the AT&T logo on the lower left button beneath the screen.
You know, where that oddly-formed arrow has been photoshopped onto the picture. Assuming it is real, AT&T customers should have a sleek new 3G Walkman phone coming their way soon enough. Spec details are very limited right now, but here’s how they look:
  • WCDMA 850/1900
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera
  • Stereo Bluetooth
  • Built-in GPS receiver
  • MP3 player
  • Stereo speakers
  • FM radio with RDS
  • Integrated motion sensor Source...

LG announces KP265 music phone in Russia

The mobile phone market is always big enough for another low-end music phone, and LG knows this very well. Which is why they’ve recently launched the LG KP265 phone in Russia, a cutesy little slider phone that’s ready to rock your music anywhere you take it.

It offers very basic features in the phone department, but has full multimedia capabilities as far as music is concerned. Sure, you can easily get a lot of better handsets out there, but if you just need an FM radio and a music player, you can take this phone and avoid paying the high-end premium.

The LG KP265 also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD card slot and USB 2.0 connectivity. A TFT screen capable of showing 262K colors will then take care of your music playlist viewing needs.

So far, the thing looks quite good on paper, but I’m afraid I can’t say the same about the design. However, if music is all that you could care about, then this phone is freely up for grabs. Source...

Sony-Ericsson goes ultra-thin with new walkman phones

Sony Ericsson says its celebrating the Walkman phone's third birthday with three new GSM handsets. Upstage owners getting tired of their aging, UI-challenged handsets are gonna love these.
The W902 is a sharp-looking candybar, thinner than a pinky. It has a 5-megapixel camera, a free 8GB memory stick for your songs and stuff and a 240x320 pixel 2.2" display. It comes in black, red and green. Fat capabilities in an ultra-thin case pitch this as a model for smartphone-hating minimalists who still want nice toys.
Specwise, the W595 is a step down from the W902, with only a 2GB memory card and a 3.2MP camera, but some trim gives it distinction. It has dual stereo jacks for friends to listen together, and "shake control," which lets you move from song to song by flicking it just so. Sony Ericsson's ad only had girls in it, so take this as the Mazda Miata of the new lineup.
The W302 is touted as an affordable unit that "doesn't compromise." It has a 2MP camera and a 512MB memory stick included. Though the same size as the W902, it's only 78 grams, and the crisp design speaks for itself. Unlike the other models, it doesn't have HSDPA, or even EDGE — but it does have an FM radio! Source...

Sony Ericsson W902 gets nicknamed Patty, to be announced with W595 on July 22nd

The Sony Ericsson Patty is not something that goes well in a sandwich with a coke float at your local McDonalds. No, sir, it’s not part of a burger. It’s actually the codename for a new Walkman phone Sony Ericsson is secretly working on, and which we just have to unveil to you before they even make the official announcement, as usual.
We have seen unofficial spy shots of the said device, and from those we gather it’ll have a 5 megapixel camera and LED flash, which I think is something new for Sony Ericsson’s Walkman line. It’s a Walkman phone, yes, not a Cyber-shot, but with 5 megapixels it’s going to be “great” coming from Sony Ericsson.

No real word yet on when the official announcement or release date, but we have it from a very good source that the Sony Ericsson W902 or “Patty” will be outed alongside the also recently rumored Sony Ericsson W595 on July 22nd. Hopefully, by then we’ll have enough info to give you a detailed first look at these phones, but until that day we wait. Let’s see what Sony Ericsson has in store. Source...

BenQ Announces C36 Music Phone

BenQ has unveiled its latest music phone, the C36. With the lines between MP3 players and phones blurring, the variety of music phones seem to be on the rise. With BenQ’s latest C36, users get dedicated music buttons to make the music experience an exciting one, not least with the stereo speakers at the back of the phone. Throw in FM radio, and the ability to record the radio directly on the phone, and it’s quite an interesting music phone.

Aside from the usual music applications, BenQ has generously included software not necessarily related to music, such as a health management application, an e-book reader, as well as the ability for the phone to function as a webcam using it’s 1.3 megapixel camera when connected to a computer. Not to mention the necessity for most phones nowadays, which is accepting microSD cards as expansion, allowing people to add memory cards to suit to bring their music library along with them.
