Nokia 6208 Classic full review

Addicted to S40 devices but still want to get the touch screen feature, but sadly there was no touch screen phone in the S40 series till Nokia 6208 Classic launched. Yes, that’s right; Nokia 6208 Classic is the first touch screen phone to be featured in the S40 series. The phone ranges in a reasonably comfortable price tag range and will be going to cost around 13K.

Some may feel that it’s a bit too costly but keeping an eye on all the features and phone specifications, the price is just right. Moreover it’s the launch price which is bound to get low in a month or so. May be that’s the right time to buy the phone if you think it’s costly right now. The looks of the phone are so stunning that you just can’t pass unnoticed. The glazing silver metallic finish, especially the back panel and the camera borders are just so cool.

Alright it’s a touch screen but still it also has a alphanumeric keyboard. Was there actually a need for this, why waste so much space. I could spot 2 basic reasons for this. May be they wanted the users to give more ease in typing as they are used to it or if they you would have increased the screen size and removed the keypad, it would have been a costly option and the price tag would have shifted from mid range to high range.

Let’s have a look at the phone specifications:

2.4-inch QVGA display (320 x 240) with Up to 16.7 million colours

Supports Email and Web browsing

3.2-megapixel camera with Dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom

TCP/IP support including EDGE and GPRS

microSD memory card slot, hot swap, max. 8 GB

Play music using the 3.5mm jack

Handy stylus glued at the back of phone

USB 2.0 or Bluetooth Connection

LG Viewty Smart (LG GC900) Is Hottest Cell Phone to Date

The LG Viewty Smart (AKA the LG GC900) is smarter than most cell phones, and comes with multimedia specifications that match most smartphones.

The brand new LG Viewty Smart (AKA the LG GC900) will hit store shelves in Europe in May, featuring a WVGA touchscreen with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels, LG's new S-Class User Interface (see it in action here), and an 8-megapixel CMOS sensor with sensitivity up to ISO 1600.

The phone also sports European HSDPA support (7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, A-GPS based geotagging, 1.5 GB internal memory (!) as well as an microSD memory slot supporting up to 32GB cards. The LG Viewty Smart succeeds the original LG Viewty, which according to LG sold over 6.5 million units.

The LG Viewty Smart (see gallery at the bottom) will offer a new Intelligent Shot Mode, courtesy of an improved image processor which analyzes the subject, background and lighting conditions and compares the data against seven pre-programmed scenarios to take better pictures. In a Canon point-and-shoot camera, you'll find an image processor that compares data against tens of thousands of optimal images, but we guess that's a key reason why camera phones are still far behind such cameras in most cases.

The LG Viewty Smart is also offering a maximum ISO setting of 1600, LED flash, Multi-Face Detection, as well as shooting modes such as Touch Shot, Art Shot, Beauty Shot, Panorama Shot and Continuous Shot. Moreover, the LG Viewty Smart boasts VGA recording capability.

The LG Viewty includes the new 3D S-Class UI which debuted on LG's Arena earlier this year. LG has tailored S-Class around the LG Viewty Smart's camera features with an on-screen dial for instantly switching shot modes and a thumbnail viewer that shows recently taken photos without having to switch to the photo gallery.

LG has also included an easier way to zoom in and out: Move your finger in a clockwise circle on the touchscreen to zoom in, as if turning the zoom ring on an SLR camera. Zoom out by moving the finger in the opposite direction. Zooming in and out is also possible with multi-touch pinching and stretching.

Despite all its features, the LG Viewty Smart measures only 12.4mm deep, making it the thinnest 8-megapixel camera phone at the time of writing. The LG Viewty Smart (LG GC900) will be available through operators in Europe starting in May and then launch in other markets around the world later on. Source...

BlackBerry Storm 2 gets pictured early

We knew it was coming, and just like its relatives the Onyx and the Gemini, yet another unreleased model has managed to escape the confines of RIM's Waterloo headquarters. This time, however, it's the Storm 2, which we've heard has been internally codenamed "Oden." We've also caught wind that this model pictured is of the GSM flavor, and yes, it's indeed packing WiFi in addition to GPS according to one of our sources. As far as that rumored "new approach to text entry," it sounds like the keyboard has been tweaked but isn't a radical departure from the first generation. From the photos, it seems that RIM has advanced in the war on buttons and axed the bottom four in favor of some touch-sensitive controls. The real improvements, however, appear to be under the hood, as the whole device reportedly runs much faster and smoother than the current model. We can't confirm these specs, but with the Tour coming this summer, and the Storm 2 hopefully making an appearance before the holiday shopping season, looks like you Verizon BlackBerry fans might not have to be that jealous of your GSM brethren after all. One more pic after the break.Source...

This time it’s the full monty, not just a cruel box-tease like T-Mobile tried to run on us a few days ago. The incredibly lucky individual who took the pictures was kind enough to post some wider angle shots as well as a few close ups for your viewing pleasure. Source...

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 on the works

It seems that the X1 from Sony Ericsson is finally getting a successor, at least that are the findings of a CEO of a supplier of Sony Ericsson. The X2 is just like the X1 using Windows Mobile. It was Ted Morgan, CEO of Skyhook Wireless, that said this during an interview with GigaOM. Skyhook supplies the so-called geo location data to among others Apple. Morgan also indicated that the X2 is using the services of Skyhook to determine your location in Google Maps.
Besides this information not much is known about the successor of the XPERIA X1. Except the fact that Sony Ericsson again has chosen to use Windows Mobile, and that the X2 therefore is not the first device of the joint venture using Android.Source...
