How to Convert Your S60 Nokia Phone Into iPhone

Bored of the interface of your S60 device? If you have tried everything else, the wallpapers, themes and every possible customization, then one thing that you just can’t dislike is iphone look. Yes that’s right; with MyPhone installed in your S60 mobile phone you can get the look and feel of iphone right in your S60 device.

As if now there are 2 versions of MyPhone available, one for the 3rd Gen Phone like E71, N73, N81 etc and another for 5th Gen Phones like 5800XM and Nokia N97. Every possible effort has been made to make the application as close as possible to the original and they have succeeded to quite an extent. Almost all the features of the home page are found similar to that of iphone. However despite everything you should never forget that you are using an addon on your S60. You have just changed the body; the soul still remains the same.

The slide to unlock feature, Bottom Dock has also been included, just as in iphone. Moreover all the icons are same as that of the iphone, there is no difference at all. That’s not it, just as in iphone you can change the orientation of the home screen icons by tap, hold and drag. You can also do that same in your s60 mobile phone using MyPhone. MyPhone is not available as free download, the cost is $12.99 but you can download the free trial version before you actually decide to shell out $12.99.

Some other features of MyPhone:

Sketchpad Application

Auto Lock

Nokia N97 vs. LG Viewty Smart: Side By Side Comparison

The Nokia N97 has been confirmed for a June release, but just today LG has announced their flagship handset for the Summer, the Viewty Smart.

Boasting an 8 megapixel camera, amazing video recording and a 3" touchscreen, the Viewty Smart certainly has the credentials to be a genuine contender. But which is better?

This table compares their specs side by side I'll leave you guys to draw your own conclusions...

The S-Class User Interface vs. Symbian S60 v5 for the touchscreens, 5MP Carl Zeiss or 8MP Schneider-Kreuznach, Nokia Maps or Google Maps for GPS...what do you think?

Me? Love the look of the N97, it just exudes luxury whilst the Viewty Smart smacks of LG Arena v2.0, but I'm trying to keep out of this one!

Download Free Sudoku game for s60 phones

Dictionary v.2.6 is mobile based dictionary and works on all j2me phones ( java mobile phones ). Dictionary has a reasonably good database but the vocabulary is not so good. But considering the fact that this dictionary is very small even less than 1mb and most of the other dictionaries available are around 5mb, this dictionary is a very good general purpose dictionary. What makes this dictionary good is its searching feature which directs you to the matching words as soon as you start typing in.

Basic description of dictionary is as follows:

1. The first thing you will see after running the it is a really nice and bright startup screen showing you three options namely start, help and about me. The help file associated with the dictionary is also quiet good and reasonably well explained.

2. After you have clicked the start button, what you will see is another bright display showing a search bar and the meaning of the first word in dictionary database starting with letter a.

3. To start searching just type in the word you want and its intelligent search function will take you to the word you want.

4. What’s good is that suppose you have forgot the exact the word and just remember the letter with which the word began, then you can just type in that word and them you can scroll through all the words that begin with that letter and you can easily select the word you want.

5. The dictionary shows the meaning along with the abbreviations such as n for noun, v for verb and adj for adjective which helps you in understanding the meaning of the word better

Despite the dictionary being so good you will always feel the need of more words and a better vocabulary. The functionality of dictionary is quite fast but the speed is a tradeoff at the cost of database.

First screenshots of Nokia’s upcoming S60 Touch UI leaked ui

Care to see how the VGA screens of future touch-based Nokia devices would look like. Here are a few screenshots.

While the screenshots don’t really provide more details about the S60 Touch UI, one thing that’s certain is that there will only be minor changes to the existing one. The options look very familiar and exactly like what you would expect to see from any Nokia device. In fact most people would probably take this as a custom theme for current S60 devices, or something.
In this screenshot of the settings menu in portrait mode, we see three prominent buttons that link to widely used commands on current S60 devices. The first one is a button for the menu, the second one for the home screen, and the third looks like it’s designated for the keypad.

Nokia E66

The Nokia E66 is an excellent business phone which is also a great alternative for those looking for sleek design in and out and one that is paired with tons of outstanding features. The cell phone offers excellent options for business users an it includes robust office suite and exchange server support but not everything is easy to be used as it can be a carrier support mobile. You might also find yourself searching for server settings, instructions and additional applications in order to get the cell phone working on your country’s carrier. However once all the settings are done you will be surprised by the rich features and how powerful the cell phone can be.

Design

The Nokia E66 is a classy business slider cell phone offering tight feel to the shell and slides open through a smooth click. The device also does not have a seamlessness of the Samsung Slider and is also not a small device, but you will like the usability through the extra added width with some added weight to make it feel solid. Apart from this there is also an outstanding bright coloured screen and it also features a very rich and comfortable keypad enabling easy typing. The interface is much like the re-skinned Symbian S60 design and so you know that you might have to dig through the enigmatic icons and folders. There are also a few new design tricks a sit includes am accelerometer. Nokia has also perfectly stuck with the easily recognized icons that include the main menu key, home key, email, calendar and address book shortcut key.

Multimedia

When it comes to multimedia you will however not find those impressive features like previous Nokia N78 as there are a few changes. The Nokia E66 offers you a headphone jack of 2.5mm rather then the 3.5mm in N78. However the stereo speakers would offer a speakerphone boast and also the music playback. The E66 also includes a more focused multimedia menu that offers quick access to the music player and several other multimedia applications. The mobile also includes a remarkable music player that offers customizable EQ settings with playlists. There is a support for stereo Bluetooth and includes a 2GB MicroSD card. You can ensure a good picture quality through the 3.2 megapixel sensor camera of E66 that also includes auto focus lens. There is also a good range of selection of options for printing and sending images.

Web browsing and navigation

The browser of Symbia S60 that Nokia uses in their high end handset is one of the best in the market. The pages would load pretty fast through the HSDPA network and you will also find it faster then the EDGE connection. Once the web pages are loaded the browser would handle them with assurance. The layout is also very good as the browser can also scroll through long pages very quickly. The GPS sensor used in E66 is also very sensitive that can find you in minutes. However the voice guidance and navigation system might cost you a bit extra on the unlocked devices of Nokia but the Nokia Maps 2.0 is yet another impressive piece of software that can help you with navigation. nokia n70 igre download

Where can you find mobile igre (Croatian for games) for your Nokia n70?

I'd recommend Zedge which has 718 mobile games you can download specifically on the Nokia n70; though it is ad supported.

I tried it with the game Funky Monkey in Funky Monkeyland because I empathized with a main character that's actually as hairy as me.

All it took was downloading the igre/game directly to my laptop. From there I just had to transfer it to the Nokia n70 and could begin playing all the monkey goodness. You can check out other nokia n70 igre here, though as I said before remember that your phone's data connection will download new ads every 4-5 times played.

S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 and Nokia N78 preview

Rafe Blandford from All About Symbian posted a preview of the Nokia N78 based on his limited time with the device at the Mobile World Congress. Eldar from Mobile-Review however has a prototype in his hands and posted his initial, Russian only, thoughts on it. Give it a few days to 1 week for the translation to occur.

Likewise since Eldar has the N78 he can also play around with S60 3.2 and has thus posted a massive preview of FP2 with tons of screenshots.

The last paragraph simply states, rough translation of course:

As a result, being repulsed from the base functionality FP2, it is possible to assert that today this is one of the most powerful platforms on the market for smartfonov, and soon its domination nothing threatens, nothing analogous "from the box" none of the producers thus far propose can.

Basically S60 3.2 kicks tons of ass and no smartphone platform comes close to competing with it.
