Nokia 6790 Mako Hands On!

So check it… We just got our hands on Nokia’s 6790 (codenamed Mako) device — the freaky 3G sliding QWERTY headed for AT&T. There have been no live pictures of this bad boy so we went ahead and took a bunch. The phone itself is drastically different from what we’d expect from Nokia (just based on their design heritage) yet ridiculously lackluster. While most of you (us included) thought this would be a high-end device, our quick perusal dictates otherwise. It feels like it would fit right in with the Samsung Propels, LG Xenons and Pantec Matrixs of the world. That’s not to say this is anything final, the unit we have is obviously not a retail unit nor is the software it’s running finished either, but these are just the first impressions we’re getting.

The screen is pretty low-res and low quality as well. We’re not feeling the keyboard (the fact Nokia still doesn’t move the letter Z one space over is hilarious) and the unit itself screams low-end to be perfectly honest. Kind of a let down. BlackBerry Storm 2 gets pictured early

We knew it was coming, and just like its relatives the Onyx and the Gemini, yet another unreleased model has managed to escape the confines of RIM's Waterloo headquarters. This time, however, it's the Storm 2, which we've heard has been internally codenamed "Oden." We've also caught wind that this model pictured is of the GSM flavor, and yes, it's indeed packing WiFi in addition to GPS according to one of our sources. As far as that rumored "new approach to text entry," it sounds like the keyboard has been tweaked but isn't a radical departure from the first generation. From the photos, it seems that RIM has advanced in the war on buttons and axed the bottom four in favor of some touch-sensitive controls. The real improvements, however, appear to be under the hood, as the whole device reportedly runs much faster and smoother than the current model. We can't confirm these specs, but with the Tour coming this summer, and the Storm 2 hopefully making an appearance before the holiday shopping season, looks like you Verizon BlackBerry fans might not have to be that jealous of your GSM brethren after all. HTC Willow for Sprint First hands-on Photos

Listed on the leaked Sprint mobile devices roadmap, the Windows Mobile powered HTC Willow smartphone is available with few first spy photos. The smartphone is running Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard edition, should be an affordable solution for your business needs. Powered by a 528MHz processor, the smartphone has a 2 megapixel camera, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, QWERTY keyboard and the Inner Circle feature. HTC Touch Diamond2 unboxing video

Our HTC Touch Diamond2 has arrived and we have just done a quick unboxing video and a look around the device, nothing too in-depth at this stage but it should be worth a watch if your interested in this phone. First impressions are the screen is beautiful and the most sensitive of any Windows Mobile device to date, nice and responsive to use. The phone is small in the hand and no longer has the diamond shaped rear panel which is a big improvement.Source...

I've been watching this one closely. From the moment Nokia announced the Nokia N97 I've been eager to get my hands on one. The spec got me salivating. Check this out:

32GB onboard memory, that's amazing, even twice the size of the largest iPhone available. Apparently it will also be capable of accepting a 32GB MicroSD card too. Though initially only 16GB cards will be available.

One small gripe I have, is that Nokia have opted to use a resistive screen rather than a capacitive screen. For such a high end phone, it seems a silly decision, as it's sure to seem sluggish when compared with the iPhone.

It appears the N97 isn't going to hit our shores though until June. Carphonewarehouse and other sources are giving the date of June 23rd as the expected release date, but who know's what could happen between now and then?

I'm really keen to learn from anybody who's got a pre-production Nokia N97.

Samsung Louvre now available: Buy via extra Retailer

Holland’s Phone House, has posted a rather brief product page for the so-called B7610 Louvre. Rumors about the model have been bouncing about for a while now.

According to The Phone House, the code-name for the model is “Louvre” not “Louve”. The official product name will be most likely “B7610″. Information is limited through the website with much of the specifications of the model missing.

The phone is referenced to feature a slide-out full QWERTY-keyboard, it’s expected that the B7610 is featuring a tilting screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and it’s said to run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, while the customized UI was said to be similar to Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia TouchWIZ UI.Source...

Nokia N97 Loaded with Skype

Internet calling company Skype has secured a deal with Nokia under which the world’s biggest phone maker will preload Skype software into some of its new smartphones starting from the third quarter of this year. Nokia is pre-installing a Skype client on the flagship N97 handset, being launched in June, allowing users to make VoIP calls without paying a penny to the network operator who is still expected to subsidise the cost of the phone

It will also let people use Skype’s instant-messaging client. Most importantly, N97 users will be able to make free and low-cost phone calls over the Internet whether they are on a 3G cellular network or a Wi-Fi network. The Skype-to-Skype voice calls are free. And the SkypeOut service, which allows calls from Skype to landlines and mobile devices, offers low rates.

Motorola Raspberry QA30 now officially called Moto Hint

Remember the Moto Raspberry QA30 that we told ya about way back in September? Well, Moto's finally announced it as the Moto Hint. The press release calls it a 'social messaging slider' that comes with a QWERTY keyboard and threaded messaging. It comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and a 2 MP snapper. As we had mentioned earlier, this one's gonna be restricted to North America only (naah, we ain't whining...).

AT&T to release the latest Samsung Propel

AT&T will supposedly be offering Samsung’s QWERTY fresh new handsets called “Propel”, though the name hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. The phone is set to launch on the AT&T network and come in red, blue and green. Not much information is known about this model yet in terms and price. The phone is said to be going for $80 with a contract, which isn’t too bad, considering it should support AT&T Navigation.

Simply slide it down and instead of a numeric keypad, you’ll get a full-blown keyboard. Sounds like a texter’s dream, too bad it doesn’t run any smartphone OS. Anyway, the Propel should start selling in the near future (we’re guessing just in time for the Christmas season) Source...

Samsung Rant from Sprint

Aside from the Samsung Highnote, Samsung has another phone due this October – the Samsung Rant. The Rant is a side sliding phone, which slides to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, which should be well received by those who love to text or send emails. Features of the phone include video recording, a 2 megapixel camera, Stereo Bluetooth, memory card expansion, easy access to Sprint Navigation, Sprint Music Store, and Sprint TV. Users will be able to choose from either red or black, though if they go to Best Buy, they can get an exclusive purple color edition. Source...

HTC Touch HD - Latest family member of HTC

After yesterday’s somewhat disappointing HTC Opal news it looks like HTC fans can do a complete 180 and get pumped. This thing might look like a BlackBerry Thunder but thanks to TouchFLO 3D we can be pretty sure the Touch HD will offer a much better touch interface. Very little is known about this sexy little devil at this point but here’s what we can tell you:

New HTC Opal successor of HTC Touch

It looks like HTC are about to release another Windows Mobile handset, this time a replacement for the Touch. The device is code named the HTC Opal and it sports a very similar form factor to the original Touch. The brief specs are an Omap 200mhz processor, 128 meg Ram and 256 Meg Rom, WiFi b and g and Windows Mobile 6.1. No mention of GPS and definitely no 3G. It is quad band GSM,GPRS and Edge only. It will have the latest TouchFlo 3D software onboard. Looks like a strange device as it is not that different from the original Touch and the specs are definitely not a great leap forward with the 200mhz processor, 2MP fixed focus camera and 320 x 240 QVGA screen. LG K910 the next version of LG Viewty

This one caught the lot of mobile enthusiasts, including us here at Unwired View, by surprise. Though we first reported about the possibility of LG rolling out a certain “K910″ with an 8MP camera a few months back, we never really thought LG would push through.

Well, apparently, they did. And now LG has just officially announced the LG K910, which is to be the LG Viewty’s 8 megapixel successor. But aside from its gargantuan-megapixel camera module, what else does the K910 really have to offer?
The 8 megapixel camera on the LG K910 won’t go to waste with its built-in Xenon flash, Schneider-Kreuznach optics, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection technology. That’s already a lot of features right there, but there’s still much we haven’t discussed yet.

It can play DivX and Xvid movies out of the box on its 3-inch WQVGA full touchscreen LCD, as well as deliver incredible sound with the help of Dolby Mobile.

HTC S740 Smartphone Hands-on pics

newmobile.com has got the chance to try out the new HTC S740, a slim version of Touch Diamond with a QWERTY sliding keyboard. Different from what we saw in the press photos, the numeric keypad, shortcut keys design will not kept your thumbprint, although the phone LCD and back cover will still love your thumbprint on it. New LG Voyager in Titanium from Verizon

Verizon Wireless and LG today added the cool looking LG Voyager Titanium phone into their portfolio of touch-screen phones. The Titanium Voyager doesn’t bring too many new things when compared to the old black one (which, by the way, is now out of stock). The main difference (besides the color) is that the new Voyager comes with Verizon’s Visual Voice Mail and V CAST Music with Rhapsody services pre-installed. “Boasting the same stylish dual-screen design and features of its predecessor in black, the Voyager in Titanium has a lustrous titanium finish and also supports two of the hottest services from Verizon Wireless - V CAST Music with Rhapsody and Visual Voice Mail”
Verizon Wireless customers can access a library of more than 5 million songs with V CAST Music with Rhapsody, purchase full songs over-the-air and download the master copy of the songs to their PCs free of digital rights management software. Customers can also sync favorite tracks, albums and playlists from their PCs to their Titanium Voyagers using the included USB cable. Also, it looks as if Verizon has dropped the Visual Voice Mail subscription price to $2.99 a month per line. Visual Voice Mail allows customers to better manage their messages on their new Voyagers. Customers can delete, reply and forward voice mail messages without having to listen to prior messages or voice instructions. Visual Voice Mail is the ideal tool for the busy mobile professional who may need to prioritize which messages he or she listens to first. This is good, but we still would much rather Verizon offer the visual voice mail without a monthly fee at all. Verizon released its all new Blitz QWERTY smart phone

Verizon has just introduced the Blitz, a phone made primarily for messaging. Manufactured by UTStarcom, the Blitz has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a dedicated MyMessaging key that will lead you directly to the messaging menu. The Blitz is, in essence, an UTStarcom handset, although it has been provided with the marketing muscle of Verizon Wireless. The Blitz features a 2.2″ display, set in landscape orientation, with 220×176 pixel resolution.

The rest of the features that Verizon’s Blitz comes with include a 2.2 inch TFT display with 262K colors and 220 x 176 pixels, dual-band CDMA connectivity (800 / 1900 MHz), VZ Navigator with turn by turn directions, stereo Bluetooth, Music player, Playlist creator and manager, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, a 2.5mm audio jack, speakerphone (with a dedicated key) Mobile Web 2.0, email and Instant Messaging, Chaperone Child, SMS and MMS capabilities, Voice Mail, Hearing Aid compatibility, alarm clock, world clock, stopwatch, calendar, calculator, notepad and expandable memory (up to 4GB). Lenovo P990 GPS Phone

Lenovo offers the P990 GPS mobile phone in the China market. Like the P960, Lenovo P990 is a dual-band GMS/GPRS phone. It is equipped with the Wolfson audio decoding chipset and Yamaha DAC. The integrated media player supports AAC, AAC+, AMR, WAV, MID audio files and playback of 640×480 MP4 videos.
