Samsung Juke: the cockroach phone?

Okay so here's the thing about the new Samsung Juke, I think the Juke is supposed to refer to juke box or it being a music phone, but in Hebrew "juke" means cockroach, making the Samsung Juke the funniest cell phone name since the quickly aborted "Motorola Piece of %#@!" model.

But does Samsung Juke SCH-u470 have more in common with the insipid insects than just a name? For the purposes of this post let’s say sure, why not?

For instance, while a cockroach appears to be one thing, a hairy six legged insect that creeps across your kitchen floor; it’s multifaceted: a hairy six legged insect that can also fly across your kitchen floor.
Likewise the Samsung Juke goes through a metamorphosis.

Opening up like a switchblade, the phone becomes a music player, which you can control through a scroll wheel and upload songs to via its USB port and your computer, or via Verizon’s V-Cast multimedia software through your computer. You can’t actually download music through Verizon’s V-Cast network directly on the cell phone though, which like a cockroach is really damn annoying. And while it comes with a standard 2-Megapixel camera, it doesn’t come with a video camera, 3G, or an expandable memory slot, making it similar to a cockroach, in that the music phone is a one trick pony.

And what’s the cockroach’s one trick? Durability, the insect can go up to 45 minutes without air and is often speculated would be the last creature after a nuclear holocaust. The Samsung Juke wouldn’t last quite as long but can hold out for up to 180 minutes of talk time.

The big difference between the Samsung Juke and the cockroach juke however is price. While a Samsung Juke will cost you $99 with a 2 year contract with Verizon; you can have as many cockroaches as you want for free.
