How to: Fix your iPhone’s email client

If you’re occasionally unable to send messages (even though you’re able to receive them), you may be experiencing a common iPhone email problem. Fortunately, there are several fixes you can try. Give some of these a shot and you’ll be firing off emails like a BlackBerry addict.

1. It’s your fault! (user error)- Make sure you didn’t accidentally drag your message from the Inbox to the Outbox. If you did, your iPhone won’t be able to identify the message’s original sender, and your reply won’t send. If your message disappeared mysteriously, simply toggle the Airplane mode, and it should pop back up.

2. It’s Yahoo’s fault!- If you’re constantly getting the error “Connections to the outgoing servers ‘(null)’ failed”, you’re out of luck. Fortunately, the problem isn’t with your iPhone, but with Yahoo’s mobile email server software. The next update should fix this problem.

3. If all else fails- Simply delete your account and create a new one. This process- the iPhone equivalent of rebooting your computer- should fix any other problems you may have.
