Play classic games from LucasArts on your iPhone and iPod touch

This item is making the rounds on the tech blogs this morning and is making a stop here at Touchtip. Why all the repetition, you ask? That’s like asking, “Why are they making yet another Indiana Jones sequel?“, or “Why did George Lucas have to make Ewoks - The Battle of Endor?” Why? Because a good story doesn’t die. Okay, so maybe the Ewoks should die, but still… a good story, like a good video game, should never end. And now, thanks to ScummVM, we can relive all those classic LucasArts games on our iPhones and iPod touches running true, native emulation.

The ScummVM game emulator does require that you have already Jailbroken your device, but once you do, the installation is a breeze. First you install the ScummVM emulator, then you add the games of your choice. The game choices include the original franchise games for Indiana Jones, Monkey Island, King’s Quest 3, and many others. Sam and Max games are also listed but unfortunately, we’ve hear reports that these games currently experience performance issues. Most of the games, however, run excellent on the iPhone and iPod touch, utilizing the multi-touch interface even better than most of the other games we’ve tested.

To run these classic games on your iPhone or iPod touch, visit the ScummVM Wiki and follow the simple instructions.
