O2 Mobile introduced a new mobile wallet service, NFC

The UK's O2 Mobile is launching the first large scale test drive of NFC technology in the UK (Near Field Communication), which allows mobile devices to be used as a digital wallet for the transfer of electronic cash.

NFC allows for the transfer of data through devices within a short range, good for in-store purchases. The first test will include 500 participants over a 6 month period in the UK. The NFC technology allows O2 Mobile devices to be used much like an Oyster card. Even while using the NFC service, you can make calls or texts, so no need to hang up when it's time to pay.
