China Mobile has successfully installed a cell phone tower on the top of Mount Everest. Why? So people carrying the Olympic torch for the upcoming Olympics will be able to phone their friends when they reach the top.
Now keep in mind that the Olympics aren’t actually being held on Mount Everest, which would actually be pretty cool; they’ll just be a couple of guys passing a lit torch back and forth. Erecting a cell phone tower just for that seems a bit excessive but seeing as China Mobile is the world’s largest cell phone provider, I guess they have the spare change.
Any-way… as China Mobile is currently in talks to carry iPhone; yes in all likelihood you’ll be able to use an iPhone on Mount Everest.
